MT. PLEASANT, Iowa — The second annual Tapestry Fest showcased Mount Pleasant’s diverse community with representation from the Americas, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

PFLAG started the event in 2023 because they feel it’s important to be aware of everyone in the community.

“It's been nothing but positive. And it's been a lot of fun," said PFLAG Vice President Paul Winer. "The music that last year we had, a lot of local sort of singers, most of them came back and, and we were lucky enough to get a hold of Blame Not The Bard, the wonderful Iowa Midwestern Celtic group and everyone loved them.”

Transgender Day of Visibility

Yearly March 31

Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness about transgender people. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces.

International TDOV was created in 2010 by trans advocate Rachel Crandall. Crandall, the head of Transgender Michigan.

50 Years of Leading with Love

Since our earliest days, PFLAG has been the connector for LGBTQ+ people with community, parents with resources, and allies with tools, bolstering the LGBTQ+ movement with strength, power, and love.

NOW IS THE TIME TO BE LOUD if we don't want to live in a state where politicians attack children and try to push trans people out of public life.
